Mount Airy Parks and Recreation is Surry County's largest public recreation provider. It includes a 50,000 square foot facility housing a year-round indoor pool (heated, 6 lanes, competitive timing system, start blocks. More than 600 swimming lessons are taught in our pools each year), seasonal outdoor pool, free weight and nautilus rooms, aerobics room (Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Insanity, X-fit and Boot Camp classes), indoor cycling area, after-school and summer camp programs, child-care nursery, youth fitness gym, computer lab, two racquetball courts and gymnasium with two basketball courts. More than 70 land-based and aquatic fitness classes are taught in the center each week. Outdoor facilities include 5 parks and two greenways that provide over 4 miles of multi-use paths, connect three schools and are located in close proximity to the historic, downtown district. These facilities are frequently used to host 5K runs/walks, fun runs, and family gatherings at little to no cost. Our organization also manages recreational, seasonal leagues for soccer, girls’ volleyball, co-ed kick-ball, softball, baseball, basketball, swimming and co-ed volleyball.
